Forum Shopping

The Litigation Center actively works to advance legal principles that prevent forum shopping and other improper maneuvers by plaintiffs’ counsel that undermine the stability and predictability of the U.S. legal system.  We have filed dozens of briefs, for example, on personal jurisdiction and venue.  The Litigation Center also regularly file briefs on the jurisdictional reach of the Alien Tort Statute and other laws, and we urge courts to enforce appropriate limits on the extraterritorial application of state and federal law.
